Training FAQs
Q: How much do the trainings cost?
Please download our curriculum overview PDF with full details on pricing.
Q: How do your trainings compare to other trauma & somatic programs?
Our curriculum is a balanced alternative to existing options, which tend to be either brief, pre-recorded certificate programs or lengthy multi-year commitments. Our training provides a comprehensive, in-depth education without the need for multi-year investments.
We also offer a training track for those interested in facilitating group somatic sessions.
Q: What are the certifications I will receive? Do these legally allow me to practice?
Each of our trainings comes with a certificate, and each of those certificates has different implications for practice within our educational tracks. You can use any of our certificates to legally market yourself as a ‘trauma coach’ or ‘somatics coach’ as there is no legal regulation around the term coach.
What you can legally practice in your state is a somewhat complex topic and is dependent on a number of factors, primarily influenced by whether or not you hold an active healthcare license. If you do not hold a license, you can still practice, however it can influence your scope of work. It’s essential to understand the legal scope of your practice in your state. All our credentials provide you a professional certification, not a legal license of practice. Our educational process is designed to help guide you towards a legal and ethical scope of practice, whether you are a coach, therapist, or alternative healthcare practitioner. Please discuss this with your academic coordinator in your admission interview.
Q: Can I use IIT trainings for continuing education credits?
Most state mental health boards will accept our training for continuing education. Our Somatic Reparenting and Practitioner Training follow the strict accreditation processed outlined by the American Psychological Association (APA), and we are in the process of having pre-approval through the APA, Board of Nurses, and others.
Q: Do I need to be a therapist or hold a license to train?
No, however each of our training has specific entry requirements. Our Core Skills Training and Free/Form trainings are open to everyone regardless of your previous education. Speak with your academic coordinator in your admission interview about entry requirements for each training.
Q: What professional titles can I use after each training?
After completing our Core Skills Training and Somatic Reparenting Training, many students go on to use the title “Trauma Coach” or “Mental Wellness Coach” or “Somatic Coach.” While your certificate of completion does not indicate a title, you are free to legally identify yourself as a coach or consultant.
Students who complete our Somatic Trauma Practitioner training are credentialed as an Institute For Integrative Trauma Somatic Practitioner. In our credentialing system, the term Practitioner is reserved only for those who complete this training level.
Q: Is there an annual fee & continuing education requirements for maintaining my certification?
Yes, but only for our Integrative Trauma Practitioner training, and Free/Form training. There is a $250 annual fee to maintain your certification. This also comes with a listing on our Find a Practitioner page, as well as your required 10 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
Q: I have a busy schedule, do I need to attend all the live zoom sessions?
Core Skills Training: Nope! This one is fully self-paced, and you can complete it on your own schedule. Our weekly zoom groups are options.
Psycho-Somatic Development Training: Live attendance to zoom sessions on this training is highly encouraged, but not mandatory.
